Gravity Bowls owe their name to the seemingly gravity-defying way that the foot supported the bowl on earlier pieces. As I continued working on this series, the focus shifted, while the name remained the same. Now, I'm more concerned with being able to display the inside of the bowl as well as the side view. After creating a few bowls that were solely designed to lay on their side, I switched to cutting a small section of the side of the foot in one or two locations. As a result, the bowl can now be displayed on its side without rolling while also being able to securely stand upright.
